Omar Ha-Redeye

A Ryerson education can help the transition into new careers, and open up entirely different opportunities. The spirit of collaboration and community can even be contagious.

As a nuclear medicine technologist, Omar Ha-Redeye was looking to get involved in the health system from a broader perspective. The health sector was his way of giving back to the community.

He enrolled in the part-time Bachelor of Health Administration (BHA) program in Health Services Management the Faculty of Community Services at Ryerson. He enjoyed the program so much that he eventually chaired its alumni association. His involvement in the school community led to a Dennis Mock Leadership Award.

“The education I received at Ryerson was absolutely incredible,” said Omar. “It was practical, cooperative, and focused on real-word problems.”

But the Ryerson BHA led Omar to consider even further opportunities, and he ended up in law school at Western University. He practices at Fleet Street Law, and is completing his Masters in Health Law at Osgoode University School of Law.

The sense of community Omar experienced at Ryerson led him to come back, this time as a professor. He currently teaches law and ethics in the Geography department.

He continues to contribute to the community he lives in, and was recently awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for contributions to Canadian society.
