Law Society’s Statement of Principles

The law society’s new Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives have attracted some controversy, as highlighted recently in the Law Times.

Omar Ha-Redeye provided some explanation of the constitutional groundwork behind the Statement of Principles here, as well as the broader initiatives here.

On Dec. 1, 2017, the motion to amend the Statement of Principles was rejected by Convocation.

Lawyers gather at the law society to oppose the motion that would modify the requirement to create a Statement of Principles.
